Student Teacher Forms

To be eligible for student teaching, Midway candidates will already demonstrate professional knowledge and skills through meeting such criteria as:

  • passing the required Praxis tests,
  • preparing a portfolio demonstrating each Kentucky New Teacher Standard and the Midway Teacher Leadership Standard, and
  • successfully completing
    • 80 or more hours of experiences in classrooms,
    • an interview with educational professionals and practitioners, and
    • all or most of their professional coursework with a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Prior to the student teaching semester, Midway College works with local schools/districts/teachers to assign each candidate to two 8-week blocks of full-time student teaching, in each of two classroom settings for a total of 16 weeks. Teachers who supervise student teachers must

  • hold the appropriate teaching certificate
  • hold a masters degree, and
  • have at least three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
