Praxis
II Testing Requirements
IN ADDITION TO COURSE, PORTFOLIO, AND INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS, ALL
TEACHER EDUCATION MAJORS MUST PASS THE PRAXIS II TESTS PRIOR TO
STUDENT TEACHING.
The Praxis Series is an Educational Testing Service (ETS) program
that provides tests and other services for states to use as part of
their teacher certification process. Passing scores are set by the
Education and Professional Standards Board and are subject to change
each September. The most current tests and passing scores can be
found at
http://www.kyepsb.net/assessment/teachertests.asp.

Elementary Education (P-5) majors would take Principles of
Learning and Teaching (K-6) and the Elementary Education Content
Knowledge test.
Middle School majors would take the Principles of Learning
and Teaching (5-9) and subject assessments according to their area(s)
of specialization. The four areas are Middle School English/Language
Arts, Middle School Mathematics, Middle School Science, and Middle
School Social Studies.
Dual Major: Elementary Education (P-5) and Middle School
majors would take the Elementary Education Content Knowledge test,
the Principles of Learning and Teaching (5-9) and subject
assessments according to their area(s) of specialization. The four
areas are Middle School English/Language Arts, Middle School
Mathematics, Middle School Science, and Middle School Social
Studies.
Secondary Biology (8-12) majors would take Principles of
Learning and Teaching (7-12); and Biology: Content Knowledge.
Secondary English (8-12) majors would take Principles of
Learning and Teaching (7-12), English Language, Literature, and
Composition: Content Knowledge; and, English Language, Literature,
and Composition: Essays.
Secondary Math (8-12) majors would take Principles of
Learning and Teaching (7-12), Mathematics: Content Knowledge, and
Mathematics: Proofs, Models, and Problems, Part 1
Learning and Behavior Disorders (P-12) majors would take the
tests required for elementary or middle school certification, plus
the tests required for LBD. There are two specialty tests required
in LBD, one common to all areas of disability and one specific to
LBD certification. Candidates must pass both content specialty
tests. LBD candidates are to take; Education of Exceptional
Students: Core Content Knowledge (0353), passing score 157 and Mild
to Moderate Disabilities (0542), passing score 172. |
