And so, to all you graduates...as you go out into the world my advice is... don't go! It's rough out there. Move back in with your parents. Let them worry about it. -Rodney Dangerfield as Thornton Melon in Back to School
Your families are extremely proud of you. You can't imagine the sense of relief they are experiencing. This would be a most opportune time to ask for money. -Gary Bolding
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go. -Dr. Seuss

coming down the stretch @ your library
As the end of the semester draws near, remember that your library is here to help. Whether you are finishing up your final project in anticipation of graduation or getting ready to take final exams, the library can provide a place to answer questions, type a paper, study, or just relax in between exams.

Why: Because you deserve it!
Thank you for taking our survey! The library staff appreciates the time you took to take our annual survey. How did we do? The ratings were high and the overall comments were complimentary. You did express concerns on several issues that we do take seriously and we will address. Thank you again for letting us know what you think.
Research Tip of the Month Well, . . . not exactly. In lieu of a research tip, here is some useful advice on surviving finals. Keep reading and you will find some tips on how to make it through the final stretch of the semester.
1. Don't Panic: Although you have a lot to do and not much time to do it in, you can succeed.
2. Write down the times your finals are scheduled: This will help you to organize your time. Not only will it prevent you from forgetting when a final is and possibly missing it, writing down the times of your exams will help you to prioritize your study time.
3. Get plenty of rest: Although you may think "who has time for sleep when I have all of these papers to write and tests to study for!" Getting adequate rest is one of the best ways to prepare for final exams. Proper sleep will keep you focused, alert and able to remember just what you studied.
4. Eat and drink plenty of water: In addition to sleep, proper nutrition is also an important part of preparing and successfully making it through final exams. Skipping meals will leave you feeling hungry, tired and unfocused. Eating properly and making sure you are hydrated will help keep up your energy and boost your concentration level. Try to stay away from sugary snacks or energy drinks which will give you an initial burst of energy, but will ultimately leave you jittery, tired and unable to concentrate.
5. Don't wait until the night before to start studying: Many times it's easy to wait until the night before to start cramming for an exam. When students cram often times they confuse information on the test, which can lead to wrong and often contrived answers. Make time to start studying now. Look over the information a little bit each day, then the night before the exam you won't be trying to memorize pages and pages of material, which will allow you to follow step #2. Using this method you may be pleasantly surprised about how much you remember when you actually take the exam.
6. Relax: Again this is easier said than done, but it's important for you to take time and relax. You will study more effectively if you take time out for yourself. Exercise, sit out in the sun, read a fiction book or watch TV for a bit. Study breaks are an important part of surviving finals, but make sure you don't study for 15 minutes and then watch two hours of TV.
Library reminders: -Do not save anything directly to the computers--back up all of your files on a flash drive. Any document saved directly to the computer may not be there the next day.
-Return all books you have checked out before you leave for the summer break.
-Return all Interlibrary Loans (books only) you have borrowed before you leave for break.
-Summer break library hours will soon be in effect and will be posted on the library web site.
Everyone have a great summer! We'll be back with another newsletter in September.
