Distance Learning

Faculty Information

The Midway College library and the libraries of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) listed below provide support services to distance learning students and faculty.  Services and resources are available to all Midway College students enrolled in the School for Career Development programs throughout central and eastern Kentucky.  Faculty and students also have access to their local public libraries.  The policies and procedures for using library resources are specific to each individual library.   Please contact the reference librarian at your respective local library for availability of these services. 

Midway College currently offers off-campus degree programs at the following sites:  Carrollton, Cynthiana, Hazard, Lexington, London, Louisville, Maysville, Somerset, and Toyota (Georgetown)

Library Instruction

Librarians are available for library instruction or general internet research for your classes, either as a group or on an individual basis.

Reserves

Materials may be placed on reserve for your students at the local library.

Interlibrary Loan

Faculty and students have access to interlibrary loan services for borrowing library materials not available at local libraries.

Resources

The library provides access to the Midway College library catalog and to the catalogs of all Kentucky college, university and public libraries through the Kentucky Virtual Library.

The library subscribes to several electronic databases that provide access to citations or full-text journal articles and electronic books.  The journal articles are accessible through the library's proxy server by using your Midway College network account information--your username and password.   To access the electronic books, you will need to call the library to set up a personal NetLibrary account.

Access to Journals and Resources

When accessing the databases and resources from off-campus, you will be prompted for a username and password.  This is the same logon information as your Midway College e-mail account.
